In the coming days, we will be making major changes to SalesVote. The changes are focused around improving your experience across the board. Here is what we’re doing and why.
First, our name and brand are changing! This is a huge step forward, but we’re taking it for a couple reasons. One, I have always felt that the word SalesVote is sort of hard to “hear,” and does not immediately convey the emotion to what we’re doing.
When we first launched, we profiled four deals at the beginning of the week, and the one with the most sales received an additional discount: hence a SalesVote. But now we have simplified the game play to where the last person who shares a deal wins credits on our site. So the name SalesVote does match our business as much anymore. Second, we are really having a lot of fun creating some of the best videos and photographs highlighting our merchant partners. This allows our members to get the best view of what our merchants have to offer. We want our new name to speak to this experience.
Okay, so what’s the new name going to be then? We’re changing our name to Relesh. The idea is that this is a heck of a lot easier to say, it’s easier for people to remember, and speaks to the enjoyment of life. Not only are we changing the name, but we’re also changing our website by simplifying the navigation and layout. I’ll write more about this later.
Second, last week we implemented our automatic credits system to where when you win the Last to Share game, you automatically receive credits in your account to make future purchases. This is a lot better than manually sending payments, that frankly had us weeks behind in many cases when paying out our members. That won’t happen anymore. You now automatically receive credits after you win. This is a much more enjoyable experience for all. Check out your profile today to see your credits status.
Third, and most importantly, we will be changing the way we communicate in our e-mails. I want everyone to know that every merchant we profile, we’re working with them for a specific reason. Because frankly as a small start-up in DC, we must choose to only focus on great merchants who will help expand our own brand throughout the DC area. And yet, I think in some ways our messaging about the merchants makes us sound like LivingSocial and Groupon too often. We can be witty and quirky like them, but it’s more important for us to own the fact that we’re small and personal. We want to be authentic. So that’s what we're going to do.
And last, with our name change, with improving the last to share game, and writing copy that matches the voice of our organization, we will also strive to show you what’s happening behind the scenes. At the end of the day we’re building a business and by being more transparent as to what’s happening behind the webpage, we will allow for many more people to interact and learn about what we do. By sharing who we are, we benefit by learning more quickly about what we're getting right and what we need to do to improve.
Feel free to reach out and tell me your thoughts about our what we're doing. If there’s something you need, or a question you might have, let me know. Now I’m off to the YMCA to swim before going into the office. I hope you have a great morning too :)
Cheers,
Zak
